Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation
The Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation (C.A.R.F.) was formed as a result of one person's experience with scarring alopecia (cicatricial means scarring). When the patient realized that little is known about such disorders, she decided, with the help of her doctor, to initiate a grassroots effort to raise funds for research to find effective treatments and a cure, to support education and advocacy, and to raise public awareness of these rare diseases.
In just five years, CARF has grown from a group of seven patients to include more than 750 patients who have received information through our patient support and educational work - newsletters, support groups, conferences, and website. In addition, CARF-funded research is leading the effort to find the cause and cure or prevention of cicatricial alopecia.
The Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, not-for-profit organization. Your fees and donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor.
